All About Belle - Fighting inoperable brain cancer

In early November 2018, Belle, a beautiful 12 year old girl was diagnosed with a life-threatening inoperable cancerous brain tumour. The condition is called Glioblastoma (GBM), a rare and very aggressive cancer which resulted in her having two emergency brain surgeries inside a week. Up until that point, she was a healthy, happy, outgoing and energetic girl, doing what most other 12 year olds do!



She is now preparing for targeted treatment which involves 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy combined with daily chemotherapy, followed by a 12 month cycle of further chemotherapy at The Royal Marsden hospital in Sutton, UK.

Unfortunately, this type of cancer is never cured with current approved treatment methods, and due to the blood-brain barrier, getting existing non-brain cancer treatments to work is extremely challenging. In 18 years, there’s only been one new treatment for this type of cancer, which is the one that Belle will be receiving.



There are some overseas trials of new treatments which are showing early signs of success, and we would love more than anything in the world for Belle to have access to these once her initial treatment plan is completed. To have the chance to make your child better is all any parent wants. Belle’s mum has temporarily stopped work to care for Belle each day as any parent would. It enables her to take Belle to daily treatments and be there for her every second of the day. 

This has caused a financial strain too, and we are hoping that crowd funding will also help relieve some of the financial worries and allow the parents to be with Belle during all the treatments, and to help make memories and enjoy time altogether as a family.
