When I look into my daughter's eyes, I see melodies and fables that can only be shared in poetry or song. I know that this is why I've sacrificed everything to be an "artivist", because it's my responsibility to leave of legacy of peace, sustainability and artistic masterpieces. It's why I'm here ... alive and awake ...
Facing a world in crisis, all most youth want to do is find some hope or healing … often that comes through the power of song or tale. Something about the musical storytelling journey - no matter what platform it's presented in - transports us to other worlds where we dance with MJ, laugh with Chaplin or ignite change like Kendrick Lamar. Within our melodious lyrics and triumphant adventures, each of us can become heroes to our community, heroes to the earth ... and best of all, heroes to ourselves!
That's what my new production, "Alive & Awake: Singing the Rain, Dancing the Change" is all about! It's about using the perrenial power of creativity to deliver solutions to the greatest challenges facing the human species and planet we inhabit. And most importantly, it's about having a party doing it!
The money raised herein will be used to finish the final mixing/mastering of this whopping 24 song album, leading with 3 SINGLES and associated MUSIC VIDEOS, all in time for Grammy's consideration this summer. The funding will allow me to package the album and videos, put together the proper outreach campaign and market this to the hundreds of schools and venues around the world that want to use this in their programming.
