Alisha's Education Abroad

Donation protected
Hey there family, friends, strangers, and anyone finding themselves to read my post! My name is Alisha Quintero, I am 25 years old and I am currently a Junior at Temple University located in the heart of Philadelphia.  Let me give you all a brief background of myself and reason behind this GoFundMe account. I am a criminal justice major at Temple University and planning to study at Temple University Rome. I am a first-generation college student and take much pride in it. I look forward to my studies at Temple to become a Juvenile Probation officer and possibly attend Temple Beasley School of Law, to help youth in my community overcome the difficulties in life they once experienced. I am planning to take a couple of courses at Temple University Rome that will give me knowledge of the criminal justice system from another country. One course  being an internship in a Law Firm and the other a criminal justice course that focuses on the different approaches to investigating and prosecuting sex crimes, punishing and treating the offenders, and addressing the needs of the victims.  The cost of this education abroad is quite pricy, but worth the knowledge I will bring back with me and that knowledge will be the building block of a resume that will impress employers who will ultimately be giving me the career am I aspiring to obtain. The financial aid I am receiving will not cover the expenses for my trip abroad because the semester begins in the summer. I have applied for scholarships; however, they are very competitive and it's pretty much a waiting game at this point. If awarded the scholarships it will cover the cost of my passport and give me up to $5000. Other expenses I will need to cover are the Rome Program fee, University Services and Insurance fees which totals $500. In addition to those expenses are the tuition at Temple University Rome, Airfaire, Room and Board, Meals, Personal expenses and books and supplies while away in Rome; the total $12,000.  I have receive a scholarship that is helping with the costs but am still coming up short. My family has been able to provide with some help but I still need $3000 to make this trip possible. My deadline is approaching ( May 1st) and anything helps at this point! So, as a social experiment it is time for me to see if the people in my community are willing to help me out and making the dream of gaining education abroad a reality!
