Imad Alasmar, 57 year old devoted husband and father of 10, unexpectedly lost his life while driving his taxi on August 25, 2015. Alasmar is originally from Jordan, and started his family in U.S. to provide his children with a better life and more opportunities. He was committed to earning a living to support his family, and it has been said that he genuinely loved his line of work.
My name is Jessica Milton, and I am a current/former teacher of 4 of his 10 children in Edison Township, NJ. The Alasmar family has been a part of the Edison community for many, many years and it is with deep sorrow that we now enter this time of grief with them. In Edison we are more than just teachers and students, co-workers and friends... we are also family.
Aside from the emotional toll this will take on his wife and children, there is also a financial burden that cannot go unnoticed. All money raised through this fundraiser will go directly to the Alasmar family, to help them get back on their feet while they work through their healing process. We are hoping that with this donation they are able to purchase school supplies, clothing, and any other items they might find themselves in need of in the near future. Once the donation is closed I will withdraw the funds and deposit the check into the MLK Elementary School bank account. From that account we will then write a check for the total sum of the donations directly to Mrs. Alasmar.
Every donation helps, no matter how small. Give what you can, if you can at all, and please keep the family in your hearts during this trying time.
