Surgery for Kelly

Donation protected

On June 19th we got an unexpected suprise on our back porch. A tiny kitten meowing his poor little head off and in serious need of medical attention and quick. After we tried to clean her up at home, we discovered her needs were far above what we could handle.

She was rushed to Duck Hollow Animal hospital in Uniontown PA. She was absouletly covered in maggots, maggot eggs on her back, and a wound on her back leg. Thankfully this was only skin deep but that was not the biggest problem.

Her eyes are badly damaged and she will be a special needs cat as she will not have any sight moving forward.

Ideally we would keep her as our own, but right now we live with my grandmother. Due to my grandmother's dog not liking cats, as well as my mother's health issues and my grandmother's advanced age this is not possible at this time.

I have called rescues clear into the Pittsburgh area, but no one has any room. If she is taken to a non no shelter she will not walk out as they will put her to sleep. Local SPCA groups do not want to put the amount of money and time into her to get her a home.

I have found her a rescue to go to which is Animal Friends of Barbour county localed in Bellington West Virginia. They are a no kill shelter and they will work to find her a good home. However they cannot take her until the operation is done on her eyes. Please do not think badly of these kind souls. They run strictly on donations and allready have one blind kitten who needs help despretly.

After speaking with Donna from the rescue, the ballpark for her surgery is 600 dollars. I am also looking ahead to hospital stays for her( Duck Hollow charges by the day) and also to get her spayed if possible.I will post if there is a change in this as I have not heard back from Lynn yet.

My mother and I are on a fixed income or we would just simply pay for her surgery ourselves.

I have decided to name her Kelly as when she came to our doorstep it is very clear this kitten is a survivor. She is also named in honor of Ryan Kelly from Celtic Thunder, who is just as much a survivor as this kitten is.Also she happens to like Ryan's music more than anything else I played for her on the way to the vet's office!

I am appealing to animal lovers and Celtic Thunder fans alike in a desprete plea to help me raise the money to get this baby the operation she needs so he can indeed" Live For Life".

I would also like to add that any leftover money after all the costs for Kelly's surgery and hospital stay are met will be made as a donation to Animal Friends of Barbour county to help them offset costs and as a thank you for agreeing to help this baby in her hour of need.
