Alex's First Ever European Vacation

My friend Alex Williams is a single mother of a 10-year old special-needs child (with a very rare genetic syndrome, 80 known cases worldwide-which has required 14 surgeries and a total of 30 anesthesias), and when not doubling as a super hero, she is also a worthy human being and good friend of mine. She has never been to Europe. She has only been outside the USA for 14 days in her entire life. Its sad. She has spent the greater part of 2013 and 2014 helping other people through sicknesses, illnesses, hospital visits, bedside care, life crises, relationship support, and taking care of her daughter - especially after her most recent surgery on July 1st. Knowing her, it won’t stop here. Alex deserves a vacation!
I am Bettina, and I am studying at the Priest Seminary of the Christian Community in Stuttgart, Germany. I will finish my first year in July, and am looking forward to a vacation where I can not only rest and relax, but see some of the places that have come up in my studies this year, which is why I picked Greece. We heard presentations given by fellow students about the ancient pre-Christian mystery schools in Greece, and we are studying ancient Greek to better understand the Gospels; so Greece is where I would like to get some inspiration to help tackle the grammar again...did you know even numbers get declined in ancient Greek!!?

In September I will already be in Europe, so the plan is that I will fly to Athens to meet Alex (who also has a deep hankering to visit some mystery centers and will require encouragement not to study the whole time…) for our Greek Odyssey. We plan to stay in modest pensione and make our way from Athens, north to Delphi, then over to the islands of Patmos (where St. John received the Revelations), Samos, Mikonos and maybe further? Depending on how much support we get, we can adjust our itinerary.
Our general itinerary for now:
