HOBY World Leadership Congress Trip

I am an upcoming junior at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and a recent nominee of the HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth) organization. As a member of this organization, I have been invited to attend the HOBY WLC (World Leadership Congress), where I will be involved in various volunteering opportunities and interact with people from countries around the world. I am currently raising funds so I can attend this amazing and life changing event.
HOBY is a nonprofit organization that gives high school students like myself a chance to enhance their leadership skills and recognize their true potential in their community through personal development activities, service projects, and interactions with numerous accomplished speakers. After being selected by my school to attend the HOBY state seminar, I've been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the World Leadership Congress which is only available to upcoming juniors who are HOBY alumni. WLC is very similar to HOBY in the sense that it encourages teenagers to hone their leading capabilities but on a larger scale; at WLC, you collaborate with international students being exposed to different cultures and exchanging cultivating ideas while developing a better understanding of our world’s issues together. This exciting experience is held at the Loyola University Chicago campus in Chicago, Illinois for 7 days from July 19th to July 26th.
Total cost for trip = $2,200
Round trip airfare = $488 (tax and baggage fees included)
Registration Fee (covers all meals, room and board, program expenses including materials, entrance fees, and any ground transportation during the event) = $1675
Being apart of LVA’s Student Council has sparked the leader within me and has been the true start to my passion for leadership and service. As a humanitarian, I want to combine that strong devotion with my interest in human rights to contribute to society whether it be through raising awareness or even starting a nonprofit organization.
With your help, I will be able to reach my goals and attend this eye-opening experience. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will take me one step closer to making this happen.
