Nguyen Family House Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected

On Sunday, June 15, 2014 the Nguyen family was displaced by a severe house fire caused by a malfunctioning sprinkler system in their garage. Unfortunately, due to extensive fire, water, and smoke damage to the main structure, their house is unable to be salvaged, and must be rebuilt from the ground up. The family lost much of their personal belongings in the fire, such as their family heirlooms, photos, clothing and their vehicles. Fortunately, the entirety of the Nguyen family was able to escape, but both parents, Thao and Bao Nguyen, suffered from 1st/2nd degree burns, and smoke inhalation. Both parents were temporarily hospitalized, and have taken medical leave to recover from their injuries. As of right now, the Nguyen's are being housed by family and friends, and are currently searching for a temporary rental home.

The Nguyen's are a wonderful family, consisting of their mother, Thao, father, Bao, and two daughters, Julie and Jennie. Thao and Bao Nguyen immigrated to America in the 1980's, and purchased their home in 1992. Both parents are medical workers at Stryker and Doctors on Duty. Their oldest daughter, Julie, is heading into her Senior Year at San Jose State University in their Animation/Illustration program, and has participated in charity art auctions benefiting Autism research. Their younger daughter, Jennie, is currently attending San Jose City majoring in Accounting.

The Nguyen family are active contributors to various charities for those in need, such as Feed the Children, Save the Children, Good Will, and St. Jude's Hospital. Now that it is their time of need, it is our responsibility as a community to get this well deserving family back on their feet and their lives back to normal.

Money from this fund will go to the Nguyen family to assist them in medical bills, food, clothing, tuition fees, rental cars, and basic mandatory necessities for their rental home such as a fridge, stove, beds, etc.
