Affordable Green Housing for All
Imagine if every American family, regardless of their income, could afford to live comfortably in their very own house.
Now imagine that this family house was designed and built for under $90,000 utilizing only locally-sourced, environmentally-friendly materials.
Not possible?
My name is Kelly Murphey, I work for a non-profit organization called Community Rebuilds based in Moab, Utah.
Our goal is to build environmentally-conscious, highly sustainable, energy-efficient straw bale homes for low-income families in Colorado and Utah.
Our team consists of professional and amateur builders from a vast range of backgrounds most of whom work for free.
"We build homes because we enjoy building. We respect the natural world because it has given us so much. And we house those who are inadequately housed because we feel a strong connection and commitment to our community."
This spring we will be building our fifth home in Durango, Colorado.
I am asking for your support to help purchase power tools and construction safety equipment for our 8-member volunteer crew. Any donation you are able to give will go a long way.
