Our Community Center Needs an AED

Hi! My name is Alison Maloney and I'm a registered nurse in northern Illinois, in the Rockford area. I'm raising money for an automatic electronic defibrillator (AED) for my masjid. The Muslim Association of Greater Rockford (MAGR) serves Muslim peoples for the entire area of north central Illinois. It also is the home of the IQRA School. This building is not only a place of worship and study, but also serves all ages as a gathering place for our very active community, which includes a variety of people from all races and ages.
In the event of a cardiac emergency, the ability to perform CPR effectively can be a lifesaver. Studies have shown that when an AED is used, the chances of survival of a cardiac event increase dramatically.
It is my hope, insha'Allah, God-willing, to bring to my community the tools and education necessary to prevent unnecessary cardiac deaths.
The American Heart Association states it simply and beautifully when they say: The life you save is mostly likely to be someone you love.
