My passion in life is dance. I eat breathe and sleep choreography. When I was 4 years old my mom put me in dance because she said I would always trip over my feet. We've now come to the conclusion that it was God placing objects in my way to get my mom's attention to train my gift.
I started dancing at the age of 4. I studied dance at Dance Etc. School of the arts for the next 14 years. When I graduated high school I took my first job as a Dance Instructor and never looked back. I've taught and performed up and down the east coast, choreographed performances for major talent, served as Artistic Director for artist's music videos, and have taught at some of the best dance studios on the east coast. I am now a resident dance choreographer for a productor company and a well known studio in the DC area.
Although I am extremely grateful for the opportunities, after 24 years in the dance industry, I am ready to branch out on my own.
I created a dance company, Adorn Dance and Entertainment Art Company in 2015. It is a performing arts company as well as a mobile dance and fitness studio. In less than a year we were able to obtain contracts to teach at private schools, businesses, and churches.
Our mobile dance studio is comprised of trained and licensed dance instructors, hired by me, who go into schools, retirement centers, businesses, churches, community centers , zumba-thons, birthday parties, benefit events, etc., to teach one of the following styles of dance :
ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, liturgical, modern, hip-hop, vixen fitness, barre, dance fitness, Zumba, boot camp, strength and conditioning, and yoga.
This business is completely funded by me. Finding funding in the arts community is not the easiest thing to do. My dream, my end goal, is a successful performing arts company, who train talented dancers to become amazing instructors who not only teach dance, but teach the love, discipline, respect, and creativity behind the art form. I truly believe dance is not something you do, but something you become, and the privilege of teaching one how to become dance is an amazing opportunity.
Your contribution would mean the world to me. God has blessed me with a talent that I must share with the world. I also believe through dance I will be able to reach those who have been targeted to believe that there is only one way to live. That they must suppress their artistic talent for the sake of feeling trapped into making a living from the corporate dollar. I believe dance and art saves lives. I believe it’s a pathway to opening the hearts and souls of those who don’t know how to live in their fullness and the pursuit of happiness. I've seen dance put a smile on the face of a child whose parent has said they haven't seen their child smile in years, and I've seen it bring back special memories to those with amnesia.
With an out of control world, and the presence of a second civil rights movement, I want to be able to shine my light so bright that it blinds darkness. Please support me in my efforts to change the world.
