Adam's Peacemaking Pilgrimage

Donation protected
The Project:

From August 28th to September 10th, I will be taking part in a peace delegation to Iraqi-Kurdistan with the international organisation Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT).

I make this journey as part of a personal response to the tragic violence and injustice which has been escalating in this region especially over the last year. As a Christian and a priest in the Anglican Church, I am motivated by my conviction that following Jesus means seeking to make peace. For me, this means following him in the way of the cross, the place where the world's insurmountable evil is confronted by God's inexhaustible love, and where life ultimately wins over death.

What the delegation will involve:

In Iraqi-Kurdistan, CPT works closely with local communities affected by violence along the borders, and by the most recent escalations of violence in Iraq. The most recent crisis has meant that some of the team’s work now includes accompanying and assisting refugees where possible.

As part of the delegation, I will be learning about the Kurdistan context and its needs, visiting and accompanying peoples who have been affected by conflict, and supporting reconciliation between different cultural and faith groups. In the long-term, the delegation will equip me to raise awareness of the situation in this region.

How you can support me:

The approximately £1800 I need to raise to make this pilgrimage of peace will be divided between flights, transport, accommodation, training, and other running costs. Your donation, however great or small, will help enable this important ministry of peacemaking.

More information:

Christian Peacemaker Teams emerged from the peace witness of the Mennonite and Quaker Churches in the United States, and supports teams of peaceworkers in several conflict zones around the world.

Adam.
