What is feline hyperthyroidism?
Mr. Cody Skeletor Bones is a wonderfully happy and loving feral cat who has lived in our neighborhood for over 7 years. He is known as the friendliest cat on the block, but he also has low energy and a gaunt appearance. Out of concern, we took him for an exam to measure his health. As it turns out he has hyperthyroidism, which can be cured – but not cheaply.
Basically, his thyroid gland is over active which, among other symptoms, inhibits proper nutrient absorption. Ultimately his body is consuming its own muscle tissue to satisfy his protein needs. It will only get worse. This really is a matter of life or a slow and painful death.
Our goal is to raise $4,600 by September 20th, 2015 to cover the expense of his cure (radioiodine treatment), subsequent 8-12 weeks of recovery, and to reimburse us for the bills we have already assumed in caring for
him thus far. *Note this date and price had to change in light of his conditon he is now*
We are putting all the paperwork and bills we get on this page to allow for a full disclosure. We are honest people with an honest cause, and we can't bear the thought of standing by idly while Cody's health slowly deteriorates. Please help us to help him have a normal life again.
