Hi friends, family and supporters!!
Our band has been recreating our sound for the past 3 years.
Some of you may know of us from our acoustic days back in 2002 or from my twin sis and I lending our vocals to many great NW and International musicians; (Lafa Taylor, Jah Sun, Kabaka Pyramid, Lloyd Brown, Jahdan Blackamoore, Marv Ellis, Keegan Smith)
Others may know us, as we are now, a four piece, Josh, Aaron, my twin Amanda Jo and me, Jenni known NOW as The AM ~ a LIVE-EDM, SoulWOMP band from Portland, OR
The just:
We are campaigning to raise funds to release our new album and record a series of music videos. Each tells a different story but is tied together by the direction, video crew, melodies and deep underlying lyrics and meanings. Once the album is complete we will be working with Subvert Agency to launch a PR campaign!
We have been dreaming of the moment when we would meet the right team of people and just coheasively "fit".
Our vision:
-To create motion pictures through music videos
-To launch the videos world wide with a massive PR campaign (one music video released EVERY quarter)
-To move and motivate others in this world to strive for something better, to cultivate change, and above all advocate for HOPE.
-To release a BRAND new AM cd (to be released in 2017)
-A rebranding PR campaign for our new name The AM!!!
First things first:
The first video, Kitty Kat, was shot in Feb of 2015 (release May 2015)
This second video "Quicksand" was written in the wake of tragedy here in America. The feeling that there was a helpless-ness for us as people. Violence and hate that has been perpetuated, repressed and brushed under the rug for decades. This song came very quickly at Aaron's home studio. We had been practicing for our TVCTV, TV performance.
At the end of the rehearsal, we felt warm and wanting to create something. We said outloud "Lets write something... like Sia would, gritty with minor cords"
In a moments time, Aaron was plucking something out on the piano and I was humming some melodies. We decided to hit record. This was the start of, what we believe to be, one of the BEST songs that we've written collectively.
This whole process feels serendipitous!
Things have literally been manifesting themselves, daily, to bring this intense creative vision to life.
Ok ok we will slow things down! (phew... deep breath)
