Abuse/Assault Prevention Workshops for Children
PEI Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a safe environment for all children. We are asking for your help to provide safety workshops to school children—Kindergarten through 8th grade -- at no charge to participants or their families. Children in our community are growing up in neighborhoods plagued by violence that disproportionately affects children and youth.
Through these workshops, we teach children that they have right to be “safe, strong, and free” and how to assert their right to stay safe from physical abuse, sexual abuse, violence, and bullying.
Following each workshop, children have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with our facilitators. This is when children often disclose incidents of domestic violence, sexual abuse, guns, drugs, bullying, or other forms of danger or neglect in their lives, enabling us to immediately connect them with intervention and support .
We have received requests to provide 306 school-based children’s workshops during the 2017-18 school year, and we need your support to raise $24,480 ($80 per workshop) to help cover the cost of delivering these life-saving and life-changing workshops for young people in our community.
We are grateful for any support you can provide to help us meet our goal and bring much-needed prevention education and support so at-risk children can remain safe in potentially unsafe situations.
