Single mother, in need of help!

I am a single mother of two beautiful kids. I had a job, I got laid off and shortly after my car stopped working. I am bilingual, so getting a good job isnt hard. At the moment the transmission to my car is out. This caused me and my children a lot of heart ache and lack, since we live far from town and bus line...I need some help!
