Who am I and what am I doing?
My name is Aaron and I am a female to male transgender person. I have been on hormones for a little less than a year and I'm hoping to raise enough money to fund my top surgery, or mastectomy, which is the removal of the breasts in order to create a more masculine chest.
Why?
Being in a body that I don't consider mine is a hard thing to deal with. The fact is, I'm never 100% comfortable in my own skin which is something that can seem difficult to relate to. This issue has become more and more uncomfortable for me to deal with because it affects almost every aspect of my everyday life. Without surgery, shopping is difficult because I have to be careful which shirts I buy and how they lay on my chest. As you can imagine summer is a hard time for me both mentally and physically. I want to finally be free without this constantly hanging over my head.
How much do I actually need?
My goal is to reach $3,700.00 in the next year. This may seem like a big goal but I'm hoping to be able to make up the difference of what I need by saving my own money. All together, I'd like to secure $7,000.00. This would include consultation, travel expenses (airfare/hotel), surgery/anestesia and a follow up appointment.
I know money is tight for some but any amount will make a difference and I truly appreciate any and every penny. Even if you can't contribute monitarily, it would be great if you could just pass this on to other friends.
