In Memory of Harley’s Love for his Grandchildren

A Grandfather’s Love
Harley Spriet, a grandfather that loved with his whole heart, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50. If you would like to make a donation in Harley's memory, the Spriet Family has set up this campaign to help raise money for Brooklyn Elementary School's Special Education Department. Direct and focused funding will aid in updating their classroom and provide an opportunity to create a safe and sensory friendly place for instruction. The wishes to update the classroom will not only support Grandpa Harley’s grandchildren, but all children that are currently benefiting from the Special Education rooms at Brooklyn Elementary. In addition, the funding will help faculty attain additional specialized training in new technologies used by Grandpa Harley's nonverbal grandson for communicating. 

Unlike most families Harley’s three grandchildren have their own unique and exceptional challenges. Harley acknowledged and worked hard towards understanding each one of his grandchildren’s challenges. Harley supported them and ensured that they received all the love they deserved. He helped wherever he could as most grandparents do. He volunteered to babysit often, loved to spoil them, and gave kisses and hugs often. 

Harley wished for a way to provide his grandchildren opportunities for them to excel. Living in this small rural community he was aware of the challenges that his children faced in providing his grandchildren with the proper resources. With two grandchildren attending Brooklyn Elementary and one who will soon be entering school...he knew that current infrastructure and personnel are spread thin. 

Grandpa Harley had a relationship with his grandchildren that built an irreplaceable and unforgettable bond. He was there for them no matter what, and his love was truly unconditional. He loved watching his own children become parents and helped them navigate the strange, scary, and exciting parenting journey. Oftentimes, Grandpa was the first one to receive a call when something went awry or one of his children needed to just talk. He was an amazing, deeply loved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
