Pin the Date on the Donkey! (Baby)

Tax deductible

Spring Reins of Life has a Surprise baby donkey on the way...

For Christmas we were given TWO (2) awesome rescue donkeys! See full story below. A few months later we began to realize the older jenny's belly kept growing. Is she obese? No she was starving. Is she infested with worms? Do not think so because on a worming schedule now... COULD there BE one more DONKEY on the way???
Would you like to join us in this experience and support the arrival of a future "meant to be" 4legged therapist with Long Ears? Please play along and you might end up a donkey godparent!?!

Do you like to play guessing games? Yes?
Well here is a guessing game for you to play!
It costs a small donation (serving a cause); Will You Play with Us and Take a Guess?

WHAT TO GUESS?:

Each donation offers you a GUESS!
Guess what date the new  baby donkey will be born on?  (July - September 2018*)
Guess whether the new baby donkey will arrive during the nighttime (moon )? OR during the daytime (sun )?
Guess the sex of the new baby donkey - will it be a boy ‍♂️(jack) or a girl (jenny)?
AND, Guess what?
It is possible that the new baby is not even a donkey at all, but a Hinny (look it up)!
(here is a hint - IF a hinny the due date* could be November/December 2018!)

HOW TO GUESS?:

1.  Support this GoFundMe campaign, make a donation now of ANY amount to make an official delivery date Guess.  However this is a fundraiser to support the surprise baby donkey's arrival and first start. We did not breed this donkey, but she is with foal and now that baby is our responsibility. Very exciting actually. Without the "surprise" funds it is scary. We will care for him/her for its life, please community help the arrival.
Suggested donation is $10 for each "Guess" (can be less, could be MORE)...
$10.00 = One guess at one date. Dates are exclusive (24hrs).  Available dates are booked first come, first served. Frequent updates on Edith's facebook page (check "Edith the Donkey" daily).
1.a) One Time Guess.
$10.00 (or more) = Baby's Gender.  You can guess the gender of the new baby donkey once.  Either a boy (Jack) OR a girl (Jenny).
Cannot guess both, pick one and stay with it.

2. After making your guess donation - Post your Guess into the GoFundMe comments section of this campaign.  PLEASE post your GUESS because this is what logs it or makes official. Unless you are at the barn in person/cash etc, must post your guess dates in the GFM campaign comments. All in one place and first guess date posted, its grabbed. Only one person/guess per date (2 people cannot share the same date/guess).

3. PLEASE Share your donation and guess to your community. GFM offers a share button after donating - Edith and SRoL would be grateful for your outreach to support this event. Send good thoughts and light for a safe, healthy and happy delivery.

4. Watch for updates! Both Edith and Spring Reins of Life will post updates here and on Facebook. This will show the available dates left to choose from and a tally of how many votes for boy or girl, etc. Watch for a weekly LIVE check in with Edith the Donkey  to let y'all get to know her and also to monitor her belly~!

The more guesses we get the more people that are following along. Some of the expenses are precautionary (gelding/emergency natal) and if these mentioned needs do not arise then the money will be used to support the new baby with his/her first year of life, mainly for medical or veterinary care as needed.

The donor who GUESSES the closest wins the title "Donkey God Parent"!
Yes, AND you get to NAME the baby Donkey!
Yes, AND then you can say that you have a God Donkey.
Yes, AND since donkeys can live up to 50 years that will be a lifetime friend!
Heehaw Heehaw Heehaw Heehoooo!

Meet the mamma: Edith the Donkey  Edith is estimated to be about 5 1/2 years old. She is beginning to trust and like us here at SRoL, it has taken a while of just proving that no one here wants to harm her. Her sweet side is coming out little by little. Edith was dropped off at a Pennsylvania auction in November 2017 with a nursing 4 month old baby (Gloria) at her side.  Upon arrival there, Edith and Gloria were separated. Baby into the Auction Yard and Mom into the Kill Pen.

Luckily they were rescued by our farmlord Barbara. They were reunited and taken to quarantine. In December they arrived to Hunt Cap Farms where Spring Reins of Life  is based. On Christmas Eve both donkeys were gifted to SRoL for our Eagala Model equine therapy program.

A short time later, we noticed Edith's belly growing, and growing. Could she be? Pregnant?

YES! How far along? We do not know....

What is the money for?:
1. The only thing that seems to scare baby Gloria is being separated from her mom. Understandably. We have to create partitions to separate them both in turnout and in the barn where they can see each other but not be in the same space (this is to help Edith with her final stages of pregnancy and to protect the newborn from any unintended harm from big sister!)
2. Ultrasound and prenatal care in the next month or so to ensure that both Edith and her fetus are in good health and care to give birth/be born!
3. Day of birth veterinary care (inspection of placenta, colostrum production, vet check for both Edith and the newborn for any problems or medical needs.
4. New baby's veterinary care for post natal care, shots, worming, etc.
5. To help with any unforeseen complications with delivery (ie: in case we have to call the vet for emergency issues during labor or birth*)
6. If the new baby is a boy (jack) - HE will need to be gelded* - sooner than later.
*Costs related to #4 and #5 are precautionary, Cost #6 is only IF a boy.  If none of these services are needed then remaining money will be set aside for the new baby donkey to have a medical/veterinary care fund to help him/her through their first year here on earth :)

We were not planning on 3 donkeys. We actually were not planning on any donkeys... However, they are joys of the barn and we are learning how much fun they will be for our clients. It is in the master plan somewhere that there were to be 3 donkeys that join our 4legged healing Herd in the year 2018. Yes, AND here we/ they are!

See it as a blessing, and since donkeys live a really long time...there will be thousands of veteran and youth trauma survivors that will heal and benefit because of these long eared therapists.

Your support and engagement in this Surprise Baby Donkey adventure "Pin the Date on the Donkey" will pay back over time to help many many people, right from the very beginning!

Give a little bit, Guess a little bit and join our "All In The Family" of Donkeys to follow along and witness the journey they take to grow and trust us and then learn how they help humans to grow on the inside and to trust life again.

Thank you so much!

Read about Edith & Gloria in the NEWS: Special thanks to reporter/photographer Lillian Shupe and TAPintoHorses  for the article to help tell Edith's story!

Watch below a FUN video created by Aravind Krishnan who is working diligently to complete his Eagle Scout badge project - building a horse run-in shed for SRoL! Its a huge project. He is nearly at his goal - fundraising efforts which he organized were a Walkathon in June and a Family Music Night in July. The video below, where Edith and Gloria make an appearance, was created at the farm to open the concert after a beautiful speech Aravind made about mental health and its societal stigmas. As a way for Spring Reins of Life to support Aravind and his enormous Eagle Scout badge project is to gather a group of construction volunteers to help with the SHED RAISING (August 2018 in Three Bridges, NJ). Please support LOCAL!  Support Local nonprofit and Local Scout Troop #489!

This video below was filmed by Upworthy reporter Jess Blank for Veterans Day 2015 to showcase SRoL's Operation Horse programming for combat PTSD veterans. In their own words, 2 OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) veterans explain "why horses" are good mental health therapy for those who do not want to "talk about it"
