The Good
At YouthRise we aim to enrich the lives of Fort Smith, NT Youth and strengthen the community through artistic expression and creation. Youth will write, direct, and edit their own short films with the mentorship and guidance of active First Nations Industry Professionals.
This year we are excited to announce that we have partnered with renowned storyteller and best-selling author Richard Van Camp. With the help of our mentors, the youth have turned his short story "Hickey Gone Wrong" into a short film. This has been a great opportunity for youth to work on a larger scale indy film set with one of Fort Smiths beloved residents.

At the end of each project the youth will walk away with either a short film that they created, It is instant gratification and the ability to have a tangible reward for their hard work.
The finished projects are then showcased for the community during our YouthRise Premiere held at the Fort Smith Rec Centre screening room where youth will get a chance to see their hard work play out on the big screen.

The Bad.. kinda
Because we believe in delivering this program at no cost to participating youth we rely heavily on funding from various departments.
But we believe that this program has and will continue to change lives and give our youth a reason to dream big when it comes to their plans and dreams for the future.
The Ugly.. but it doesn't have to be "ugly" for long
Although we have the very generous support of various funding agencies we are still looking for money to cover the rest of our expenses for our 2015 program as well as help us continue to grow and get ready for our 2016 program.
We are asking for your help! Our goal is to successfully complete this years program so that we can move on to planning our 2016 YouthRise Project with plans to continue growing and inspiring youth. Some programs we hope to implement in the future are:
-Animation
-Game Design
-Ballet, Dance, Martial Arts
-Graphic Arts
