Gaboma True Dream Basketball Camp

My name is Therence Mayimba, Gabonese student athlete going to George Mason University. God has been great to me so far. I remember like it was yesterday when i was in Gabon three years ago, trying to find my dream, trying to make it to The Us, because it was the best place to be for what i loved to do "going to school and play basketball".
It was not easy to find my way to the Us. I had no connections, money, or scoots looking at me, but i can tell you that was working hard, and I had ambitions and dedication. I prayed God to give me just one chance to accomplish my dream and make my mother proud of me.
I got selected in the national team of Gabon U15 in 2009. we went to Congo and Cameroun. In one of those trips, God worked in a misterious way. A man approached me and said "I saw you play and i think you are very good, you should keep playing ball". After that Everythings else came fast.
II talked to my mother, for some reasons I was determinated to succed. She had doubts about it but my brother who is the oldest was on my side, than she did let me go in this adventure i'm living now. Came over The Us at Montrose Christian as a sophomore in 2011 in which i had a financial aid to study in the school, I was able to play basketball for the greatest coach i know, coach Stu Vetter.
With hard work, dedication, and faith i made it to Junior year (even though the language was hard to learn), than transfered to Saint James school for my senior year.
Because i was here (The Us), I got recognised by many universities around the country. I got offered a full scholarship from many division 1 schools. I decided to go to George Mason University!
However, i felt like giving back, i know what those kids are going through down in Gabon. So about a year ago, i created an organization "Gaboma True Dream", in which the purpose is to help kids in Gabon to find their american dream, to be in a better place where their dreams can come true, to find a school where they can come study and make their dreams come true. With Education anything is possible that why it is our slogan.
This year, we are raising funds for The Gaboma True Dream camp. This camp help some kids in Gabon (Africa) to be recognize in different events, soccer, basketball... All donations are much appreciated.
