Windrush Farm's Sensory Forest

Windrush Farm is seeking $5000 to build a new Sensory Forest. The goal is to have this forest to be big enough to allow a full therapeutic riding class. Currently, our "Sensory Trail" is located in the parking lot! The trail only allows one rider through at a time. The Sensory Forest will incorporate all the elements of a trail ride including hills, steps, turns, and textured paths, but also will include interactive stations that engage all of the human senses. With your help, clients at Windrush Farm will soon enjoy many stations like, a music station, a puzzle wall, the smells of raised garden boxes filled with herbs and flowers! Incorporating the Sensory Forest into our current programs, Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding clients will benefits the additional simulation and interaction through these sensory stations.

We are currently in partnership with YouthBuild Lawrence, an organization that works to empower youth at risk. Over the next 8 months they will be volunteering their time and skills to help build this potential new Sensory Forest at Windrush Farm.
