Bring Water to 50 Families

Donation protected
When I returned to the States, I knew that I wouldn't ever be able to have the same perspective of American daily life.

Now, I had been there - the conditions were so much more than a commercial that invaded my television set following some ABC Family movie and before I could find the remote. I had not only seen it but I had smelt it and I had felt it and I had spoken to them and lifted those kids onto my shoulders.

I immediately felt guilty for my standard practice of 20 minute showers (used to be 25 minutes but hey, California is in a drought now) standing under drinking water.

But the residents of Algodon, a poor village that sits on a sugar cane plantation, did not sit and reflect hourly on their impoverished conditions despite survival on less than $5 per family per month. They were kinder and more filled with life than most people I knew in the States.

"Everyone here has a fierce love of life and love of each other," Pastor Jack said. "People who do not suffer, do not appreciate life. We love every day we are alive.”

They turned to him, the community leader, to seek a solution to the water problem and he has turned to me. “People are dying.” He continued slowly and emphatically, “and it is only going to get worse.”

$1800 will install a system to deliver water to over 50 families within the village for years to come.

Any contribution helps.
