Angies Footsteps to Follow a Dream

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Vicki
My sister, Angie Monnig, has always had a dream to be a songwriter. Like most people we all get busy with work and everyday life and put our dreams aside.
When she was 36 years old she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a life changing moment for her that made her realize that it was time to change. She came up with this crazy idea to walk 500 miles to Nashville to take a shot at her dream of BEING A SONGWRITER.

Below is her story ... please read it.
Your donation will help to pay for expenses during the (month-long) walk Anything extra will be donated to SEV  (Saving Every Victim) in Linn County Missouri.

Thank you for your donation.

Footsteps to Follow a Dream -- My Story of Breast Cancer - Angie Monnig

I believe that everyone has a dream somewhere inside of them, something they were going to do when they grew up or a vision of how their life was going to turn out. Most of us grow up and life happens, work and many other things get in the way. I think we get comfortable with where we are and think that pursuing anything beyond that is almost impossible, yet somewhere deep inside us is a little voice in the back of our heads nagging at us that there is something bigger, something better out there. Something that would make us feel alive and set us on fire, something we are very passionate about whatever that may be. Something that could change the world, whether it's inventing something new, doing something that has never been done or just inspiring others to be all they can be.

We all have it in us to leave our mark on this world but for most of us I think we get comfortable with our ordinary everyday lives and give up on our bigger dreams altogether, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with ordinary everyday life and going to work every day and raising a family. That in itself is a big accomplishment. Being a mom and raising my son has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. Yet somewhere deep inside of me is a burning desire that I was meant to do something more.

Ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to be a songwriter. I started writing songs when I was about four years old (well you couldn't actually call them songs) but I tried anyway smile emoticon The older I got the more I wrote and the more I wanted to do this. I took a couple song writing classes over the years and tried to pursue this the best ways I knew how but I haven't came up with much yet. I've woke up in the middle of the night and got up just to write because an idea came to me. It has always been my passion to be a songwriter. I think music makes the world a better place and maybe that is where I want to leave my mark.
