The Wabasha Ambulance Service is a volunteer ambulance service that serves a population of nearly 10,000 people. We are a volunteer ambulance service on the Mississippi River in Southeastern Minnesota. The City of Wabasha is home to the National Eagle Center and was the setting for the famous "Grumpy Old Men" movies. The city is a destination for tourists from around the world. If you have an idea of a beautiful small town in Minnesota, this is it!
When the pager sounds, any time,day or night, our volunteers leave the dinner table, their nice warm bed or the family Christmas dinner to answer someone's call for help. Sometimes these calls are those that have had a "heart attack". When we are trying to do CPR for up to 20 minutes while waiting for more help, the chance of saving that persons life is very small. In order to help save lives we need this device. We do not have the budget to be able to afford this on our own.
We are currently seeking funding for the purchase of a LUCAS2 CPR device. This device delivers mechanical chest compressions to someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Being that we work in a rural area, many times a year we end up working on a patient in cardiac arrest while transporting them for 20 or more minutes. This device will save lives. We ask for your support so we may acquire this device. Our community is made up of everyone from Veterans, Catholics, Lutherans, Lutefisk eaters and many others - no one knows who will be the life you might help save by donating!
