Long Beach Veterans Day Parade

Donation protected
The Long Beach Veterans Day Parade has grown far beyond anything imagined by Former City Councilman Jerry Shultz back in 1996.  He called together a group of community volunteers. Their original goal was to create a patriotic event in North Long Beach.  That group became the Long Beach Veterans Day Committee.

Now in its 20th. Year, the parade has grown from humble origins into a family oriented event that attracts close to ten thousand spectators.  Themed, “A Salute to Those Who Served,”   this parade is a way we all can honor our veterans from all branches of the military and from all eras.

Using the name, “Long Beach Veterans Day Committee" the group applied for and received a 501c3 non-profit designation.  That designation is important since the parade is financially supported by grants and donations from corporations and agencies, privately owned businesses and individuals.  The city does budget for police services in connection with the event, but the Committee is responsible for paying for all other expenses.   It is necessary that the commitee raise funds of about $30,000.00 each year.

About 95% of the parade units are non-profit veterans groups, marching bands, youth groups, etc.   Because of that fact, there is no entry fee for any group or individual who wants to participate in the parade.  However,  the Long Beach Veterans Day Committee,
des gratefully accept donations.  All donations are fully tax deductible. Tax Id. #33-0930989
