While we are gearing up to celebrate the holidays with loved ones, decorating our homes, starting to tackle the lists, cozying up as the season gets colder, there are thousands in our community without homes. Of those homeless, 85% are county residents who had a crisis and ended up without a home. Seniors, women, men, youth, are alone out there who can really use the joy, hope and warmth we are blessed with and can share. If all you can do is share this page link or send prayer, that is plenty helpful but we also have a wish list below and although this effort may not be a solution, its indeed a priceless deed  that can truly make a difference in anothers life, spirit, and mindset on their journey, our journey.

Last year in San Jose, CA we had several homeless die due to the cold and being unshelterered, we are already there. Let us take a moment of silence for them:

• Daniel Brillhart, 52 years old, died on 11/28/2013, location of death: Delmas and Auzerais in San Jose
• Enrique Rubio, 56 years old, died on 12/04/2013, location of death: 600 Block of Lincoln Ave in San Jose
• Andrew Greenleaf, 48 years old, died on 12/05/2013, location of death: 20000 Block of Orchard Road in Saratoga
• Daniel Moore, 53 years old, died on 12/05/2013, location of death: Curtner Ave. at Canoas Gardens in San Jose

Although there have been ongoing plans the past decade to end homelessness here, the numbers rise each year. An 18% increase in San Jose alone since 2011. In Santa Clara County, one of the richest regions of the world, Silicon Valley, we are amongst the nations 5th highest numbers of homelessness. Santa Clara County also has the third highest percentage of unsheltered homeless. We are amongst the places with the most chronically homeless and homeless children and youth. We are highest in the country for unsheltered veterans. In 2013 our county had an estimate 7,600+  people on the streets at any given night, and about 74% were unsheltered, that's over 5,600 people, children to seniors, men and women young and old.

Let's come together as a community and use our numbers to an advantage, to strenghthen our community by uplifting our community and offering kindesses and a hand where needed. Whether it be prayers, sharing this effort on social sites, making donations in whatever form you are able, volunteering for distribution day, support comes in many ways.

$$$Large donors, we encourage you to send in a check, actual goods, or a Grocery Outlet or Foodmaxx gift card as credit card processing fees are well over 5% of what you donate through this page$$$

HISTORY
We started in 2011 inviting others to help with our collection of warm clothing and blankets. Throughout the year we also serve meals to the homeless and will serve soup on distribution day. Our Brown Bag Stockings started last year and were quite something to receive. We wrote positive uplifting messages on each one, and they are 7 day food packages. I believe these messages come from God through us and are carried in their hearts forever. Everything is received with the utmost gratefulness and truly lifts up those who are down. These are seeds we plant which become models for how we build up our community. I truly believe there is a way to greatly reduce homelessness and have a mission in life to help it,  this is one part of the focus, heart to heart outreach while building up and enriching our community. Additionally I am applying for grants this year and working on establishing an official location and which will further manifest growth and enrichment beyond measure for the San Jose community...to start...

Sharing is one click away! Please repost somewhere to help us spread this effort. Thank you again.
