Trinity's East Coast School Trip

Donation protected
Who am I? I'm Trinity Brandon, 13yrs old and I'm an 8th grade student in Middle School.  This year I have the opportunity to go on an 8th grade educational trip to Boston, Philadelphia, New York City and Washington D.C. The trip is this summer. With your help, I know I can make this happen.

Why should I go? I have a 3.8 GPA, Assistant editor in Yearbook, involved in Girl Scouts, and Youth Group at my Church. I have been learning about US History in school and by going on this trip, I will be able to learn more by experiencing the history rather than reading it in a book.

Why do I have to raise money? The trip costs nearly  $2700. The total covers the airfare, hotels, charter buses, food and all of our activities.  I need to extra money for spending plus the fees for this fundraiser. My mom, Tammy Summers is a single parent and she has done sooooo much for me. She doesn't have the money to pay for the whole trip for me. My mom has done so much for me over the years and for other people. My mom has organized school trips for me in 6th grade to Camp Cuyamaca and my 7th grade Yosemite trip. She organized them but didn't go on the trips with me. She wanted students to enjoy the experience. My mom can't always afford the trips so she would also fundraise for me. This year my mom isn't coordinating this trip and she told me the cost was too expensive and I probably couldn't go. I told my mom that I have to go!! So I'm fundraising now. A LOT of fundraising!!!

What will I be learning in the East Coast? First, my class will fly to Boston. I will encounter Plimoth Plantation and see how life was in the year 1627. I will also have a guided tour of the following places. :Revolutionary War battle sites of Lexington and Concord, Boston's Freedom Trail, Bunker Hill Monument, Paul Revere House, Boston Massacre site, Granary Burial Ground and the Old State House. After leaving Boston,  I will travel to New York City.

In New York City, I will see the following: Radio City Music Hall, Rockefellar Center, 5th Ave.  and St. Patrick Cathedral along with the Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial, Ellis Island and Central Park. After departing New York City, the next destination is Philadelphia.

In Philadelphia, I will visit the following places: National Constitution Center, tour the Independence National Historic Park of the Liberty Bell and Congress Hall. One of the places I really want to visit is the Amish Farmlands and learn about the culture and visit an authentic amish farm. Gettysburg National Park and tour the Gettysburg Battlefield.

The final destination is Washington D.C.  I will visit the following places: US capital building, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Lincoln, Korean War and Jefferson Memorials. Along with seeing the Arlington National Cemetary, Vietnams Veteran's Memorial, World War II, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Martin Luther King memorials. I also get to take a group photo in front of the White House with my classmates.

In 2011, my mom and I went to visit Washington D.C to visit family members and we went to the Lincoln Memorial. At that time, the reflection pool was being rennovated and we only saw a lot of dirt instead of a reflection pool. I told my mom " This time I get to see water in the reflection pool when I visit DC instead of dirt. " My mom answered, "Yes you will sweetie when we get the money."

Thank you to those that donate and thank you to those that have read this message. God Bless and Much love to you all.

Sincerely,
Trinity Brandon
