Hello All.

First off, thanks for visiting my Funding Site. Today I am here to reach out for support in the Next Step to Being Completely Me -- A name change.

Currently I am still legally assigned my given birth name -- It is often uncomfortable for me in life situations, be it at a Doctor's office, using my debit card, and showing my ID -- All which still read my legal birth name and assigned birth sex. I would love to have all these official documents display the name of the person I am -- Mel, a shortened version of the name I was given.

Why Mel?

I have decided to stay with Mel for several reasons. Although I have struggled most of the life being called the name I was given at birth, I feel very connected to the name Mel. I've been going by this name for years, it is comfortable for me and is a name I have really connected myself to. It is also a shortened version of my given name.

What your donation will do for me:

My plan is to change my name officially as soon as I have the funds to do so - The process is quite extensive and costly. There is a thorough Court process I have to go through - many legal documents, and I even need to have my new name published in the local paper- under the laws of NJ. It could take several months for this process to be completed- So I would really like to start getting the ball rolling now.

With your donation, the money will go to Court costs and legal fees associated with a name and gender change. With your help I will be able to change my name to Mel Lee Wright, a name I am closely associated with - Something that will make me feel even more content with myself.

Unforunately I am in a position that I need to reach out to others, I am still fighting to pay Surgery bills, other bills, rent, everything associated with being alive!

Truthfully I wish I had the money to help everyone out in a position such as mine. I know how debilitationg it is to legally have a name that reflects a part of your life you had no control over. I'm not sure why the Universe chose me as a Pioneer in the Transgender community-- But I'm blessed to be able to help change the world in a positive way by simply being myself every day.
