Rescue Dog Thor's Surgery Fund

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My partner and I recently adopted a rescue dog into our home named Thor, a 3 year old Pit Bull Mix from Last Hope K9 in Boston, MA.  Thor has had a rough past and was rescued from a kill shelter down south after being surrendered by some not-so-friendly owners that didn't want him anymore...He has some physical and emotional wounds from those days, but hes a trooper who always tries to get better with everyday. Thor is a sweet boy full of love and life and has made a huge impact on myself and my partner, Coral.

We made the decision to bring him into our forever home to give him love, life and compassion that he can trust to be permanent and safe.  After Thor's recent vet visit, however, we're worried about the chance that he might have with us to experience his own story. Our vet ran a cytology test on a lump on Thor's thigh and verified today that the growth is a Mast Cell Tumor

A Mast Cell in dogs can vary in severity depending on the grade (Grade 1, 2, or 3), with Grade 3 cancer being the most malignant and having the least amount of sucessful treatment options and the mestasis begins to spread.  We are bringing Thor in for Surgery on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 to remove the Mast Cell and run a biopsy to confirm the exact grade of the tumor.  While we hope this biopsy will confirm that Thor's tumor is benign (grade 1 or 2), we are also preparing for the worst.

If it comes back as Grade 3, Thor faces limited treatment options and we will have to turn to irradiation and chemotherapy to prolong the mestasis and make sure that he doesn't experience any painful symptoms. In preparation for either outcome, we wanted to reach out our local community and ask for anyone that would be willing to donate anything (1$, $5) to help us finance the surgery for biopsy and prepare for the cost of Thor's treatment if it turns out to be the worst.

The surgery costs about $1000 and for now we are trying to reach a goal of financing just the surgery.  We hope that this will be the only fund that we will need to raise for Thor and that the test results prove to be benign aswe remove the tumor permanently.

We know that Thor has touched many people at Last Hope and friends/family.  We truly appreciate any donations that people feel comfortable giving to Thor's cause.  We will keep everyone posted on his progress and hope to come back with some good news

Sincerely,
Eric and Coral
