We are The Ohio State of Mind, a co-ed A Cappella student organization from THE Ohio State University.
On 10/31/2010, "The Key of Gee" was started as part of The Acappella Alliance at The Ohio State University. After the retirement of Dr. Gordon Gee in 2013, we made the difficult decision to change our name to something more universal. We are now THE Ohio State of Mind and we love the change!
The group consists of 20 members, both male and female, with a wide variety of majors and campus affiliations. We pride ourselves on being student organized and student led. Our music is arranged by members of our group and we decide internally what to sing.
We are honored to be a well recongnized group among campus and the Columbus area. We have been lucky enough to perform gigs like the Homecoming Pep Rally, BuckeyeThon, Dean's Administration banquets, and University Housing banquets, as well as numerous gigs off campus such as christmas shows and company banquets.
Each year we host numerous concerts on campus at The Ohio State University. This year we will be hosting a collaboration concert with another A Cappella group from the University of Pittsburgh and two Cabaret concerts.
We are also lucky enough to participate in various collegiate A Cappella competitions. Every year we try out for the International Championship of Collegiate A Capella, a large scale A Cappella competition encompassing numerous college groups across the country and internationally. This year we plan to return and hope to advance to the semi-finals. This past year we were also able to travel to Chicago, IL in the spring to participate in the SingStrong A Cappella Festival. This is a 3 day festival that includes A Cappella camps, seminars, and a competition, all which benefits the Alzheimer's Assosciation.
We are proud to call ourselves The Ohio State of Mind and we are so proud of what we do and what we have accomplished in our four short years of being an organization. We love to perform for our community and for our campus, and we hope that you'll help us continue to be able to do this by donating to our GoFundMe.
