Our roots dig deep into the city of Oceanside and we have so much pride participating in its changing culture. Oceanside is our home. It is our playground. Our place of work and cherished moments of rest. We support and fight for our local community. It is such an honor to live in one of the most beautiful cities around, so rich in talent and creativity. We love Oceanside. This is our home, so if our dream is to be, it needs to be here.

The Loose Leaf, LLC
The Loose Leaf manufactures and sells loose leaf organic tea. The company was founded in 2008 by Meghan Mercier who has a certificate and background in herbal medicine, natural health, and nutrition. Meghan built The Loose Leaf from the ground up making her way into 15+ weekly markets throughout San Diego and Orange County, and finding her way into all 4 Wholefoods Markets in San Diego. To meet the growing needs of The Loose Leaf, Meghan brought Cheyne Dolly on board to pick up the slack in all things "business". Together they've made a perfect team complimenting eachother's strengths and weaknesses.
The Loose Leaf's growing presence in the Farmer's Market community over the last few years has developed a very large and consistent customer base, with a growing number of wholesale accounts all across Southern California. With all the other right pieces in place, opening a brick and mortar is the next piece to the puzzle, and that time is now.
Our Vision
Our desire is to transform a historic retail space in Oceanside, CA into North County's premier Tea & Coffee Bar. Here, we will offer our huge selection of the highest quality organic loose leaf teas and locally roasted organic coffee, including cold brew coffee and iced teas on tap! Our goal is to infuse the world of craft teas and coffee with our deep passion for music and great love of our city to create a unique, healthy, and heartfelt experience.
We Need Your Help!
When we found our location at 408 Mission Ave in the heart of Downtown Oceanside, we absolutelty fell in love and knew it was going to be the perfect fit. That being said, we also knew it was going to be a lot of work. Built in 1906, this historic building was the home of a well known shoe repair shop for decades, and more recently a bicycle rental shop.
Restoring and transforming this location is going to call for countless labourous hours that quite honestly we cannot wait to dive into. But more than just time and labor, it's obviously going to take money. We set a reasonable, well thought out, budget for our build out project knowing that Cheyne, along with well qualified friends and family, would be willing and able to complete most of the work. However, there are many hoops to jump through and seemingly endless strands of red tape that we did not account to demand such a large portion of our budget.
Since we've announced our plans to open The Loose Leaf Tea Bar, we've had nothing but a huge outpouring from friends and family members offering their services and support. Well, here's your chance! While most of the labor is accounted for and waiting for the green light to begin, our biggest obstacle at this time is lining up the funds to make the dream a reality. Between our vision, location, and products, we know this is going to be a huge success and great asset to our city. We cannot wait to get the doors open and have all you share in this with us!
We want it to be known that we feel entitlement to nothing. No one owes us anything. We don't expect life to just give us a fair shot, but we realize we need to be humble enough to ask for help when its needed. We will see this dream through, no matter what. We will not stop. We will not give up. Rules, polish, and convention do not apply to those who know their purpose is greater than themselves. We will defend the dream for those who follow us.
