Veteran's Treatment for TBI

Donation protected
From the wife
Hello, my name is Erica, and this is a campaign to get my husband, Michael a treatment he, and my family, desperately need.  My husband has many Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) due to childhood abuse, abuse in the Army, and also explosions.  The TBIs have affected our entire lives, due to these his brain does not operate as a normal individual.  He has been in the psychiatric hospital 6-7 times (the number of times have blurred together) and been diagnosed with a multitude of mental illnesses.  Some of them being Schizo-affective Disorder (which if he is manic or depresse then he also sees and hears things that are not there), PTSD, and Severe Chronic Depression.  All the psychiatrists we have spoken to say that when the problem is caused by TBI then finding a treatment with a pill is almost, and in our case has proven it be, impossible.  We now have new hope though, and it's called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and it can HEAL his brain.  This is the only other option that we have.  A doctor, named Dr.Harch, has so much faith that this treatment with change my husband's, and therefore my family's, quality of life that he is willing to do the treatment for free (which is $10,000 by itself).  Currently my husband can barely leave the house, and only will to leave for an appointment or if I need to go to the grocery store, he can not drive anywhere because he blacks out, he forgets many things, and he can barely care for our 2 boys by himself.  This treatment would be able to make us a normal family, maybe not perfect, but normal.

Mike is really a fantastic person, he wants to help everyone that he can.  Heck, even when he was homeless at 16 years old, he would help out the other homeless people leaving him with nothing.  My family is held back by my husband's disabilities, and it kills him knowing it.  We do the best we can given our circumstances, but if we could heal Mike's brain, then we could have opportunities that currently aren't on the table for us, such as taking our kids to the zoo.

We are asking for assistance to get to the treatment in New Orleans, Louisiana, and to stay there for 8-10 weeks.  The only reason we will stay there for so long is because 1 treatment is actually 40+ sessions, and can only happen once a day.  We will be taking our 2 boys with us, ages 5 and 2, and our service dog.  Please help us meet our goal so we can have a chance to be a family and have fun as such.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to Facebook me, my name on there is Erica Frensley.  Anything will help us be it just a dollar.

Words from the Veteran

My name is SGT Michael Frensley U.S. Army (ret) and I am requesting help with travel and housing pay to receive Hyperbaric Oxygen  Treatment for multiple Traumatic Brain Injuries.  I am only 26 years old and suffer from severe Traumatic Brain Injuries from childhood abuse, blast exposure, and, sadly, hazing by my brother-in-arms. I was beaten unconscious multiple times while in service to this country because I was new to the Army, just a Private, and I replaced a soldier who was killed by an Explosively Formed Projectile. I was 19 when I deployed with America's bravest, Infantrymen. I was only in the Army for less than 6 months before I deployed to meet the company that deployed as I was starting basic training.
In Iraq

When I arrived I was treated with no respect by the already combat hardened peers. Even after being jumped multiple times by my peers and squad leader I still earned zero respect. On my first patrol we were surprised by a complex IED ambush, first of many for me, but only one one of many for my platoon. After that night, ears still ringing and still feeling nauseous, my platoon mates started patting me on the back, “You did good,” they said and would walk off lighting a cigarette laughing, “Frensley finally got his cherry popped.”

I understand now that I had to prove my worth under hostile engagement, but at what cost?  I'm unable to drive due to blacking out, I neglect my family because I can not handle the presence of other humans, I am so light sensitive I feel foggy and hazy with impaired motor functions, the constant pressure in my head is relieved only by the nighttime and rest, I lash out at people for no reason, I can rarely leave my home, and I rely on my wife for help with my perception, because it is often delusional. I have been on at least 25 medications which only worsened the issue and caused severe weight gain. I rely on medical cannabis but I would rather rely on myself.

I am sincerely asking for help, which is very hard for me to do. With travel pay to Louisiana, where a doctor felt my story with his heart,  has offered to treat me with Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment probono, normally $10,000+ in itself. Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment has been proven to heal Traumatic Brain Injuries, and yet it is not FDA approved yet. The doctor felt upset because my PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is too severe for a study he is currently doing for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. The study is is for Traumatic Brain Injury, but I also suffer PTSD, Schizo-affective Disorder, and an Auto Immune Inflammatory Bowel Disorder which I picked up while in service. I cannot eat meat of any kind, gluten, corn or corn products (which is in everything), peppers, tomatoes, or potatoes for they cause extreme inflammation throughout my entire body. It's called the Gulf War Syndrome, and many veterans suffer from it unknowingly. I juice fast everyday to counter the inflammation. If I happen to eat anything it's green beans, quinoa, sauteed vegetables, and fresh fruit. Even my spices are limited due to severe inflammation of my bowels and organs. I have lost all the weight I gained from the medications, which is over 150 pounds, due to my extreme diet of juicing everyday to stay alive. It's the only way I can absorb nutrients.

What I'm asking for is help financially for travel and housing pay to Louisiana so Dr.Harch can help me with at least the Traumatic Brain Injury using Hyperbaric Oxygen. He is excited to treat me and says he knows it will improve the quality of my, and my family's, life. Any left over funds will go to raising awareness for Traumatic Brain Injury and Gulf War Syndrome. I have many fellow Infantrymen who suffer and do not know why. I would use left over funds to send them for this treatment and show them a diet that would change their lives. Gulf War Syndrome does not just affect the veteran, but even spouses and children of the veteran.

This treatment is the “Hail Mary” pass as I have tried everything else to improve. Please help my family and I to reach out goal so we can finally be a normal family, not one that lives on the whim of my emotions. Thank you for your time, and hopefully, donation.
