Over the past month and a half Stacy has spent 2 weeks in an inpatient pain management and rehab program and another 4 weeks in an outpatient pain management and rehab program. Though it hasnt been easy she has gained some optimism for the future as she learns to live with the pain.
Thank you to everyone who has helped share her story and support my fundraising efforts for my sister. A follow up article to the original accident coverage was written and will be in several papers tomorrow rallying for support. Here is the link to one paper. http://www.contracostatimes.com/crime-courts/ci_23791997/pacifica-career-ending-injury-haunts-ex-police-officer

Officer Stacy Jaquith was severely injured on the job and needs some support. Stacy got her start in law enforcement as a security guard at the Santa cruz beach boardwalk outside of high school and soon after attended the police academy. She worked as a deputy with the sheriff's department in Sacramento, CA for over 10 years. In 2005 She went on a mission trip to Africa where she volunteered teaching in a school and nursing in small hospital. She was one of 4 people selected to represent the Rotary clubs group study program in Germany. Inspired by her numerous visits to help in Afirca, She accepted a job in 2006 working for a non profit organization called the International Justice Mission where she served as the Director of Investigations in South Asia. During the 3 years while living abroad, she helped to rescue people from different types of slavery. Upon her return to the United States she continued her career as a police officer with the Pacifica Police Department. In 2010 while working patrol she was dragged down the freeway by a suspect as he attempted to flee. She was severely injured and has been recieving medical attention for the last 3 years. She has had 3 major back surgeries and is currently medicated for the pain and unable to work or drive. She has gone from a healthy, strong, passionate, hardworking, financially stable person saving others lives to debilitated, depressed, helpless, broke and humiliated. The limitation of Workman's Compenstation benefits has created a severe financial hardship. She has wiped out her savings, will not be able to work as an officer again and is just trying to survive while facing the possibility of losing her home being unable to keep up with her bills. I have created this fundraiser to help my sister get back on her feet and give her back hope. She is an inspirational person who has saved so many other people and its time for her to be saved. So I am asking for your support! Please help save Stacy! Thank you!
