Another Month has passed by and...

Another Month has passed by and things are slowly changing. Max has returned to work, my office is now at home, but I am working on changing that back to the daycare. We are starting to plan the rebuilding under the water line, but we must replace all of our tools and equipment in order to start the work even. We just want everyone to know how helpful these funds have been. Every bit of these donations went straight to the electrician. Thank you.

Happy New Year, and thank you...

Happy New Year, and thank you so very much for all of your help so far. WE HAVE REAL LIVE ELECTRICTY! And a huge Thanks to Sal the electrician who is holding our debt right now. 56 days total, in the dark, and now that we have light, we just hold onto our flashlights in place of a security blanket. I never thought I would be so excited to do laundry! Max nor I have returned to work yet, as we spend our days working on loan and grant stuff. The kids are back at school today and I hope they feel the "normal" coming to them.

Post Storm, Help GET the "New Normal"

We finally returned home, exactly a month after the storm, but we are still working on the new norm that everyone keeps talking about. We are living here under generator power, the daycare has reopened, but I have yet to return to work. Max has not been to work yet either, and his business lost their storage and materials. I have learned a valuable skill during this, in actually accepting help and discovering that we were in fact, in need of it. I learned how to say just what was needed, if of course, a lunch or a shower was needed. But a month later things are very different.

The LOSS at the building is estimated at $300,000, figured by the loss and/or damage to the four businesses residing on the first floor.  Actual clean up and repairs to the building so far have been $70,000. Emotional damage is incalculable at this time. Rebuilding the electrical system is the top priority.

If you are still looking for a way to help, we have opened this page for folks and friends to use when they are so far away, we have put our goal at $1 because any help is appreciated.  We are altogether just trying to help the building repair so that we can start functioning normally within it.

Having finally brought our kids home was and is the best!
