Now that it's finished, I'm so excited to send it to you!!!
I had promised posters and t-shirts to several of the higher donor levels...but have been unable to secure the proper sponsorship. I am still trying, but in the meantime would like to send out the CD's.
For those of you who donated at the higher levels...and were hoping to get a t-shirt and/or poster....please let me know if you still want one. If enough of you really want them....I will continue to work on it. If you would prefer more CD's instead let me know that as well.
I don't want anyone to feel shafted. :-)
Also....for many of you I do not have your mailing addresses. Could everyone PLEASE respond ASAP with your full name and address you would like me to ship your CD(s) to?

ps: the attached picture is the Cambridge Sound Studios team: Grammy Nominated Producer Jim Salamone and in the background two brilliant engineers...Todd Mecaughey and Josh Aaron.
We are soooo close to completion on the new CD. I'm finishing up the background vocals this week with help from 2 amazing ladies: Patty Blee and Geri Smith. The next step will be for my Producer, Jim Salamone, and his team to do the final edits, mixing and mastering and then it's off to Disc Makers to create the CD's! WooHoo!!!!
As a thank you for being so patient...I have set up my www.SolKnopf.com website for today only to allow you to download for FREE my SongU.com award winning song "I Was Born To Love Her" which will be on the new CD. All you have to do is go to www.SolKnopf.com and click on the "Listen" menu. "I Was Born To Love Her" is the first song in the cue. Right under the song you will see the words "Share" and "Download". Just click "Download" and that is it. Feel free to "share" the song as well by clicking the share button. The more people who listen to the song from that specific link... It helps me rise on the Reverbnation charts! Last week I was 50th in the nation in the Singer/Songwriter category. Let's see if we can get to #1!!!
More exciting news....I am scheduled to go to Nashville the first week of March to write with the great Odie Blackmon (Billboard Magazine's 2005 Nashville Songwriter of the Year) ("She'll Leave You With a Smile" George Strait - "Nothing On But The Radio" Gary Allan - "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" - Lee Ann Womack
My upcoming CD is very close to completion!!!!
There's still lots to do. I've uploaded a preliminary version of "My Baby Girl" to my www.SolKnopf.com website for you to listen to. Just click on the "listen" menu button and it will be the first song in the player!
GREAT NEWS!!!! I'M A FINALIST!!!!!!
One of the websites I am a member of is called SongU.com. It is a site specifically designed for aspiring songwriters of all levels. A couple times a year they run a songwriting competition with the Grand Prize being a 3 hour mentoring/writing session with a top industry writer. This year's writer is none other than Clay Mills. For those of you who listen to Country music....Clay has written such hits as "Beautiful Mess" (Diamond Rio), "History in the Making" & "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" (Darius Rucker), "Fall' (Clay Walker and Kimberley Locke) and many, many more.
Anyway....I was just notified that I am one of a handful of writers who have made it into the finals! They are having the "Big Reveal" tomorrow nite (Tuesday Oct 23rd) for all SongU members at 8pm to find out who is the winner! Cross your fingers! (and toeszzzzzzzzz).
Love You Guys!
PS- If any of you would like to join songU.com please let me know and I will give you a referral.
The new CD is coming along nicely. The whole project is starting to take form and it sounds amazing! I will be back in the studio this coming Wednesday to begin some of the editing process...along with adding some more vocal, guitar and piano tracks. The goal is still to complete the project before the Holidays.
It's been awhile since I've updated everyone on Chris Keaton's progress on shopping my originals to the top country artists in Nashville. We're still strongly in consideration with Tim McGraw's manager and producer. They really like a song that I wrote with Geri Smith called "To Be Loved". However, Tim's former record company has filed a suit against his new record company over ownership of his most recent project. It will most likely delay their ability to make a decision on our song for a bit. Dang it!
Here is a list of the other artists whose representatives have expressed interest in my material over the last couple weeks:
Chris Cagle, Ronnie Milsap, Andy Gibson, John Michael Montgomery, The Jane Dear Girls, Katrina Elam, Emily West, The Clark Brothers, Jordan Doell, Sarah Darling, Kellie Pickler, Daniel Lee Band, Joey Allen, Holly Lucas, Jack Ingram, Cyndi Thomson, Emily Minor, Ashley Thomas, Garrett Steele, T. Graham Brown and Josh Gracin.
It's going to happen guys....cross those fingers......... and toes! haha
My producer, Jim Salamone, sent me preliminary mixes today of "Average Joe", "My Baby Girl" and "Sara's Hair" with the string arrangements by Jonathon Yudkin. For over 30 years, Jonathan Yudkin has been providing studios in Nashville with award-winning tracks that bring results and top the charts. Some of his credits include Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Trace Adkins, Neil Diamond and so many others. I'm getting quite sore from pinching myself!
I'm not ashamed to say that as I listened to each song play this morning...the emotion of it all overcame me and the tears fell. I don't quite know how to explain the feeling other than to say it was total bliss. This project is a giant step for my career...and YOU have helped to make it happen! My heart is full of love and thanks for what you have done for me.
Next Wednesday Sept 12th I will begin the process of adding lead vocals to each song...plus we will be evaluating all of the tunes to determine what is left to do to complete the project.
Many of you have asked when we expect to be done with the project. My hope is to have it ready for the Christmas/Chanukah Holidays. Hopefully we can make that happen!
Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart, for your love and support. I will continue to do all I can to make you proud to have been a part of this.
We did it! Our goal has been reached!!!!!
The fundraising began on September 29th of last year when State Farm Insurance agent Kathy Safford made the first donation and then sent requests to her colleagues to do the same. Right from those first donations I have been totally blown away by the show of support.
This process has certainly not been an easy or comfortable one for me. Never thought I would find myself "pan-handlin" to further my career. haha There were days where it gave me a stomach ache to ask for help "one more time". But YOU ALL carried me with your kind words, love and positive energy.
So many times I thought there was no way we were going to be able to raise even 1 more dollar. And then someone would step up in a big way. Like in November of last year when Brian & Peas Hill hosted a fundraising event at their beautiful home that helped raise several thousand dollars! Or when a person I didn't even know donated $500 because a dear college friend of mine had shared with him what I was doing.
So many dear, dear friends who donated very large amounts...and donated several times...over and over. Wow! Very humbling.
The initial goal for this project was $15,000. It became clear, early on, that a figure that high would be out of reach. So after further negotiations with my producer we lowered the limit to $12,000...and then again to $10,000...which is the amount we finally raised... $10,000!!! Considering how tough the economy has been for everyone...I can't believe we were able to raise that much.
I'm still hoping to find a sponsor to cover the cost of T-shirts and posters in exchange for the advertising both would bring. T-shirts are expensive when you start putting print on them. If any of you know of someone who might be interested in that kind of sponsorship please let me know.
As for the CD that you have now funded!!!! it is sounding incredible! I am scheduled back in the studio this Wednesday to begin tracking lead vocals. There's still lots of work to do...but the initial tracks we've done are sounding even better than I had dreamed. I am hoping we have everything completed and the CD is released before Christmas. I will let you know as soon as I do when our release date will be. Then we'll have a big party somewhere to celebrate!
With all my heart...I just want to thank you again for working so hard this last year on my behalf and for making this whole project possible. You have humbled me beyond words. I only hope that the music and Lyrics on this CD touches your heart as much as your friendship and support has mine.
After many years of hard work, I finally have representatives of artists like Tim McGraw, Ronnie Milsap, John Michael Montgomery, Leanne Rimes, Lonestar and many more expressing significant interest in recording my songs. However, moving forward, it's become clear that in order to compete with the best writers in the world I am going to need to record my demos in a more professional way.
The awesome news is Grammy Nominated producer Jim Salamone has agreed to oversee the production of a new CD project that will accomplish this. Jim has worked with top artists like Bon Jovi, Vanessa Williams, Teddy Pendergrass and he uses some of the top studio musicians in our industry....so we're certainly in good hands.
I hope you will consider helping make this happen by pre-purchasing the CD or donating. So far my friends, family and fans have raised over $6,500 to help me pay for this ....but I still need to raise another $2,500.
You can donate in any increment you want: $1....$5....$50...$100....$1,000 whatever you can afford would be a huge help.
Sol, we are so happy for your success! We have been BIG fans of you since the first time we heard you perform 24 years ago! Now it's time for you to be noticed and appreciated by everyone beyond DE. We are planning on coming to Annabella's on June 2nd to kick off the unveiling of your new CD and your birthday too! We wish you the best in your journey!!
