ShinBi's Eye Surgery

Our dear, dear ShinBi may have not been rescued from a Korean dog market, but he was certainly rescued from a Korean animal shelter and his health problems that we soon realized may have been to bewildering for his original owner.
ShinBi has diabetes. We have a monthly bill of $300-$500 to cover his meds. Because of his diabetes, ShinBi now needs eye surgery.
Dogs might not read, but cataracts can cause intraocular inflammation and eventually causes painful glaucoma. Glaucoma causes chronic headaches similar to migraines.
About 75 percent of diabetic dogs develop cataracts (cloudy lenses) and blindness in both eyes within nine months of being diagnoses with diabetes and this is much the case with ShinBi.
We waited until ShinBi was healthy enough for surgery. If we waited much longer, cataracts could cause a painful intraocular inflammation and both eyes would need to be removed.
ShinBi is having his surgery on 11 May 2015 at the Tustin Eye Care Center ( 3025 Edinger Ave, Tustin, CA 92780). The estimated cost is $3000. His foster mom, Sue Baldwin, the current president of Southland Collie Rescue is putting the bill on her credit card for now.
We need to ask for your help again. The reality is we need much more than this for ShinBi's care as you'll see from the medical expenses listed below.
Please share and share again. We also plan on having fundraisers at on the last Wednesdays of May and July at the Irvine Ruby's Diner, so come and eat--we get 20 percent of the non-alcoholic sales.
