Native American Gatherers

Native American Gatherers are trying to preserve our culture by educating the public with gatherings/powwows open free to the public. Our first event will be 3 day gathering Sept. 20-22, with Friday the 20th being school day. This event will be from 10am until 10pm on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. We are desperately needing to raise funds to help bring in demonstrators from NY to Florida. We have been in contact with 7 local school districts from elementary to middle school. Any monies will also go for establishing our non profit with the state of NC, filing for a 501(3)(c) with the IRS, and helping to fund future events, hopefully 2 events next year.
Our events are being held for the purpose of educating people on Native American culture, spirituality, and traditions. There will be demonstrations from a multitude of Native tribes including Cherokee, Muskogee Creek, Apache, Navajo, Shinnecock and many other Native tribes. No one in this committee is benefiting monetarily, we are all volunteers. There will be a sacred circle with dance and demonstrations. All dancers will be in their traditional regalia and there will be inter-tribal dances inviting the public and children to dance with us. There will be live demonstrations several times a day teaching each dance that will be performed, flint napping, story telling, flute players, & traditional Native foods like buffalo, fry bread, & Indian tacos. Our focus is mainly on the children, our future generations and honoring our veterans, those who have fought for our freedom. Some of our veterans travel great distances for this event. Without them we would not be able to live the blessed life we know today.
I hope you will consider helping us help our future generations and thank our past generations. Our elders are passing and without this education to future generations, our way of life and cultures will pass with them.
