Zelda, my best friend and five-year old cat-child, has always been the most friendly and full of life cat I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. A few days ago, he suddenly wasn't looking like himself, but was still meeting me at the door when I came home and grooming his little sister, Storm. After a night of vomiting, I took him to the vet only to learn that he was having severe kidney issues and had a loud heart murmur.
After further tests at the emergency vet, I learned that he has HCM, which is a genetic heart disease that causes the walls of the bottom aortas to thicken, and makes blood flow more cumbersome.
In order to save Zelda, he needs fluids for his kidneys, but because of his heart disease, requires around the clock care and cannot receive so much fluid that his heart is flooded.
The emergency vet commented that she'd never seen so much spirit in a cat under these conditions. They even took a second blood test to confirm that his results were really his. Zelda has a positive attitude and wants to fight for his life; he wants to keep living and bringing everyone he meets joy.
In order to give him the care he needs, I'm asking for help with the vet bills! Without help, I can only keep him in the hospital for another day and he won't be able to recover. What I can offer in exchange is custom art!
