Help Save Pug Puppy "Little Tank's" Life

Little Tank was bought as a 5-week old puppy. Shortly after bringing him home, his human was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She died just last week.
For two months Little Tank (now 8-months old) has been having severe neurological issues: disorientation, drooling, seizures, weakness, and general failure to thrive. His human was not able to get him vet care so he's suffered without treatment for months.
We brought this skinny, listless puppy to the neurologist last Saturday. His tests are highly indicative of a Liver Shunt. Little Tank came home and started on a home-cooked low-protein diet and some medication.
GREAT NEWS: The sedate, confused, drooling, weak puppy we picked up on Saturday is now bouncing, jumping, barking, playing, and being a generally naughty puppy.
THE REALITY: While we can treat a Liver Shunt with diet and medication temporarily, we need to proceed with surgery in order to save Little Tank's life. Otherwise the toxins in his liver will continue to poison his brain and cause him to suffer and eventually die.
THE NEXT STEPS: Little Tank needs a diagnostic test called a scintigraphy. This is a non-invasive, painless test that will tell us if his Liver Shunt is singular or multiple and whether it is external or internal to his liver. We MUST get this test done before proceeding with surgery.
We need to raise $1000 in the next few days so that Little Tank can get the scintigraphy on Monday 4/28.
Once we get back the results of the scintigraphy, we'll know how much we need to raise for surgery to cure Little Tank of this awful condition.

UPDATE 5/2/14: Little Tank had his scintigraphy and we got back the best possible news: he is a good surgical candidate! Now we need to raise the funds for a procedure that will CURE his condition! We're trying to negotiate with a rescue-friendly vet for a deeply discounted surgery, so our goal amount might change once get a back a final quote. For now, let's start getting these funds rolling in so we can get Little Tank his operation ASAP!
UPDATE 5/9/14: We have the estimate from the surgeon! Little Tank is feeling great and is ready for surgery ASAP - all we need to do is raise the rest of the money! Thank you all for your continued support, generosity, and compassion!
