Bringing Home Baby Salinas

Hello everyone, my name is Edward Salinas. I have turned to GoFundMe to try and raise money for 2 things.

The first is to help pay for my wife's surgery to remove a few uterine tumors that may be complicating things for us to be able to conceive a child. We have decent insurance as I am active duty military (Army) and my wife has secondary insurance with her employer. The problem is that we currently are stationed in Alaska and there is not a surgeon qualified or capable of doing this surgery here. We will need to fly to Seattle to have it completed. Because of that, Tricare will not cover the surgery to be done in Seattle, even though it is necessary. My wife's employer may cover part of the surgery (*may is the key word here), but because it will be out of network for them, we will have to pay 30% of the surgery cost and all travel associated to get there. 

The second reason I am here is to try and assist with paying for the cost of adoption. There are so many children in this country in need of homes and we would love to start a family. Sadly the cost associated with adoption and bringing home a family member is rather costly. From early on in our relationship, we had always planned on both adopting and having biological children. For us there was no order, we left it for God to decide which came first. Over the past 4 years we have had 5 miscarriages for unknown reasons and have been unsuccessful in carrying a pregnancy to term, so we have been praying for the right adoption situation to come along. We both grew up in families that believed in the value of blending cultures, homes and love regardless of how a child enters the family. We have chosen to expand our family through adoption and feel it’s the right choice for us.  Very recently, an adoption situation has presented itself and while nothing is final at this point, we have been praying it works out.

That being said, it is not certain if any specific reason has played a part in the pregnancy losses and now difficulty getting pregnant. Recently, we turned to an alternative method (IUI), but so far, none have been successful.

My wife is a nurse and has worked in Pediatrics, Cancer, Emergency (All Ages), and soon L&D. She is the strongest, most selfless, humble and genuine person I know. She gives and gives and never asks for anything in return. Her faith is strong, she is a devoted humanitarian and she is always there for her family, friends, coworkers and patients. Theres no doubt my wife would help to raise a child that sees the world with the same beauty as she does.

I want to surprise her by raising enough money to cover the 30% of the surgery we need and possibly more, so we can adopt a baby. While we have saved for a long time, expenses for this are high and as of now, this our way to start our family. We are both in our early 30's and we all know the older we get, the harder it will be to conceive. She deserves to be a mother more than anything in the world; she would be an amazing mom. I would like to bless her with that opportunity using our savings and any help from you guys and gals out there. If you also could keep us in your prayers, it would mean a lot to me.

Please help me raise the money, air miles, hotel credits or points, etc we need so I can make my wife's dream (and my own) come true.
