Surgery to Put Me Back Together

Donation protected
After battling obesity since the age of two years old with an unkown underlying medical condition causing me to gain weight rapidly, I have reached through much dedication and hard work my weight loss goal.
I have tried over 10  diets, including eating programs and weight loss stratigums since the age of seven.  As a young girl I knew at five years old I was not like the other girls my age.  Having always been an active child and young adult being involved in sports, dance, and theater since the age of two, my mother and I never understood why I kept gaining all the weight I had put on over the years.  After numerous tests we later found out that I had Insulin Resistance which is a pre diabetic disease that causes me to hold on to weight. Growing up during my adelessent and teenage years the pressure and importance of having the "Perfect  Body"  took a tole on me both mentally and physically-going to the extremes in order to achieve the look I so badly desired.  I felt trapped in my own skin and I know that I am not the only one who suffers/has suffered, or feels the way I did. Today's society stresses this image that women should have, whether it's on a TV show,  magazine Ad, or a billboard in time square.  What is troubling to me the most is that young girls are succumbing to the pressures that society inflicts on women bythinking negatively and ridiculing their bodies.  Statistics show that girls begin to describe themselves as over weight or fat as early as nine years old. What is not stressed enough however, is the importance of being healthy and taking care of your body and the beauty that is YOU.  After realizing this,  I worked with specialists and nutritionist to get myself where I needed to be (in terms of health) and most importantly where I was happy.  I struggled for years of my childhood to young adulthood but I am glad to say through hard work and dedication I reached my weight loss goal of almost 80 lbs. Unfortunately, that battle destoyed, scarred, and tattered my body. I have to now undergo a body reconstructive and contouring surgery. My mother is a single parent and we are trying our hardest but surgery is $20,000 and not covered by insurance. I will be undergoing surgery July 10th, 2015.  Every penny counts. I hope to one day be able to share my story and teach young girls that they are beautiful and the most important thig is to be happy and healthy, and comfortable in the skin you're in.
