Roy Thompson Scholarship Fund

We are an organization that serves a double purpose. We have a food pantry with which we help families feed their animals. We also give scholarships to students going into the animal medicine field. Currently the cost of education is at an all-time high. Cornell University, currently the #1 nationally ranked school for a Veterinarian degree, has an annual out-of-state tuition of $45,130. This of course does not cover the cost of living, books, travel expenses, etc.Other Veterinary schools include, Univarsity of California Davis, at $33,245 and locally here in Massachusetts, Tufts Univeristy, at $41,940.
Some colleges offer a two year Veterinary Technician Degree but even these are in the $40,000 range. Locally Berkshire Community College had future plans to offer a discounted cost for such career paths but these plans are a few years out.
For animal lovers, their pets become their family and when they fall ill they seek out the best assistance and professional expertise. This creates a need for qualified and educated professionals. Our Scholarship Fund aims to assist enrolled students in the field of animal care, with tuition reimbursement. Presently, we offer a reimbursement of $200, per student per year. Our goal of $25,000 will allow us to become a part of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.  WIth your help, we will be able to sponsor more students over a larger area.
