Please help send Rose City Trombones to China to perform in the 2016 Beijing Tourism Festival.
Rose City Trombones is a group of passionate musicians dedicated to showcasing the majestic trombone. Our goal is to provide concerts and education outreach which explain the mysteries of this shiny machine. Our musicians come from area orchestras, bands and music schools around the USA. We have performed at TEDxPortland, NBA Portland Trailblazers, Western Hockey League Portland Winterhawks and Minor League Baseball Hillsboro Hops. Rose City Trombones also perform with local orchestras, bands, charities and schools. Our music styles include classical, cinematic, jazz, popular and Rock & Roll unplugged.
Recently we were surprised, honored, thrilled and a bit overwhelmed to be invited as the music performance group representing the USA at the 2016 Beijing International Tourism Festival which takes place September 29 to October 5.
While a fantastic opportunity, it should come as no surprise that trombone players can not typically afford this kind of travel. To make it more reasonable, the festival will cover much of the in-country costs of the trip. We are asking for your contribution to help us get to China. This includes air travel, visas, instrument shipping, trip insurance, and uniforms.
Please submit your donation by the end of our trip October 6, 2016 - so we can pay the bills!
Attending the 2016 Beijing International Band Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Now that the opportunity has presented itself, we see it as a precious chance to share our"keep Portland weird" musical approach with a world audience. All while representing our state and country.
