Rene's journey after KD

Hi friends and family,
On December 11th, our son Rene, was sent home from school with a fever. Little did we know that this was going to be the start of our longest journey. After several trips to the pediatrician and the ER, two different types of antibiotics, and many sleepless nights he woke up with red eyes, swollen hands and feet, cherry red lips, and a "strawberry tongue". On December 18th our baby boy entered Rady's hospital to have the doctors confirm he had Kawasaki Disease. This is a very rare disease that attacks the vessels and arteries of the body. After an IVIG transfusion his fever finally broke, and we were on to the next phase of this...his CT showed severe aneurysms in his coronary arteries on both the left and right side. Hearing more about what this meant for Rene's life was devastating.
He is now constantly monitored with regular heart scans, and is on blood thinner shots and other medication to prevent clotting in his arteries. This poor kid has received over 60 shots since this began, but his spirit would never show it!!
Rene will not be able to play contact sports..for now because of the blood thinners, and possibly forever. And if any of you know Rene you know how much this brought tears to our eyes. However, God is living through his spirit and keeping him so strong and so tough.
With all of this comes the price of the medical attention he has and will experience. If you can help in any way please please know how grateful we are. All of the prayers, love, kind words, and support is beyond amazing and we are so truly blessed.
