Raw Food Education & Raw Kids Book

Who am I?
I am a family trained chef creating healthy diets from selected foods for a variety of businesses.  I have become actively aware of the lack of true understanding of food quality, as well as the undeniable health providing power of plant-based foods.

What am I doing?
Pursuing a professional raw foods education at the Matthew Kenney school in Venice Beach, Ca starting Aug 3rd 2015

Why?
Children are truly the future and we have all the resources we need to assist them in making decisions regarding their health that are positive, ultimately giving them a better opportunity for a healthy, active, fulfilled life.

My dream is to create the 'Raw Ninja,' a children's 'play with food' book and web series that will allow children to learn about assembling fruits and vegetables in a safe, delicious, and nutritious manner. It will take them on adventures to farms and show them that a grocery store is not the birthplace of plants. The Raw Ninja character will be kids just like your own, whether in cartoon form (in the book) or a real life child (for the web series) displaying his or her own ninja skills while having fun with food.

The Raw Ninja will empower children to learn in their own way, make their own choices, and help them focus on a self-discovery method rather than strictly memorization, which often distracts from the true purpose of learning. It helps encourage creativity, skills, responsibility, and promotes a positive perspective on fresh, unadulterated, unprocessed fruits and vegetables.

How I plan to achieve my dream:

I’m looking to further my education in the culinary world by learning the way of raw foods at the Matthew Kenney School in Venice Beach, Ca.
My focus on raw food is to learn a safe, yet simple way of teaching and creating kid friendly, fun to eat raw meals. When traditional cooking methods are involved in a child's food education it becomes required for an adult to suprivise.  My goal is to help children learn about food independently.

Berries on-top information:
The age old saying “You Only Live Once” has become a quote used to justify many bad habits. Rather, we should acknowledge  and cherish our time, bodies, minds, and family.

An individual’s greatest loss is the loss of good health. The unfortunate aspect of this fact is that children are the first to be susceptible to a weak start in life.  Food has become widely acknowledged as the building block to a child's overall development stages. The issue is that nutritional imbalances all too often result in obesity, mental and emotional health, lack of energy, behavioral issues, learning disabilities, allergies, asthma, physical growth, intellectual growth, autism, hyperactivity, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and anxiety, just to name a few. Parent’s become overly concerned about the proper ‘multiple vitamin pill’ their children should have when the best source of vitamin’s and mineral’s is simple; good food. Most notaby, raw plant foods.  So why not put the choice of good nutrition in the child’s hands?

Through society and cartoons, children have been told that “brussel sprouts are gross,” and that all kids hate greens. On the contrary however, blue oatmeal is delicious and macaroni and cheese is a meal.  Sugars, salts, artificial colors and flavors, and enough preservatives to keep foods ‘fresh’ for years pollute our children’s bodies and equally as important, their minds.
