This is Princess Isa story:
Let me start by telling you a little bit about Isa, she is a beautiful, typical 6 year old little girly girl. She loves frozen; Princess Elsa is her favorite princess. She knows more about named brand purses than we all do. She would not miss the chance to wear your heels. Isa steals everyone’s heart from the moment you meet her. I can tell you that when I first met her, her mom told me how she had a crush on Jose (my fiancé) and how she said she was going to call him “Babe” from that moment on she had my heart. She is mommy and daddy’s little girl, her grandma and grandpa’s first and only granddaughter and the pride and joy of her godmother, Tia and Tio’s and big sister to Junior.
On Saturday December 6, 2014 Isa woke up happy and vibrant as always, her parents did notice a slight droop in her upper lip. They did not think anything about it as she was still her normal self, they just decided to monitor it and if something changes they would take her in to see the doctor on Monday. It is now Sunday December 7, 2014, Isa tried to get out of bed and fell. Her parents decided to take her to the emergency room, Isa is a big sister to Junior who is 2 years old so before taking her to the emergency room they were going to drop Junior off at their grandma’s house they did not make it that far, Isa began vomiting and her dad decided just to rush her to the nearest hospital which was MacNeal hospital upon arrival they did a CT scan the hospital then proceeded to advise her parents Imelda and Julio Madrigal that there is something there but they could not diagnose her she needed more testing. They referred her to Lurie Children’s hospital, upon arrival they were rushed right in, an MRI was completed and few hours later her parents received every parent’s worst nightmare Isa was diagnosed with Diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPGs) a highly aggressive and difficult-to-treat brain tumor found at the base of the brain that is inoperable. They were given 3 option’s (1) Try an experimental drug that has not had very positive results, (2) make her comfortable as the tumor is progressing fast, or (3) start her on radiation and steroids to slow down the growth and the pressure of the tumor. As anyone with a heart not even being a parent would choose to fight. Her parents decided to go with the 3rd option and start her on radiation ASAP. Watching their daughter go from vibrant, happy and energetic little girl to immobile, not very responsive in a matter of hours broke them inside. Her father was battling his own battle with cancer and was now in remission his first response when we saw him was “Take me, why her”, her mom crying saying that is “my baby”. The hardest moment for me was seeing her; it was good thing I had to wear a mask to cover my tears. She looked so fragile all these tubes, all these machines, but I looked down and saw her Elsa doll laying on her as she looked at me with her eyes semi opened but I knew she could hear me. I grabbed her hand as her godmother told her that we had brought her a teddy bear, she squeezed my hand. I told our little princess Isa that she was going to get better very soon and be back to playing with her princess Elsa doll. Isa had her first radiation and steroid treatment administered that night. Doctors say that she reacted really well to the treatment. On Tuesday December 9, 2014 her godmother told me that she is moving more and was even asking for food and water, although they were having some issues getting the feeding tube in but that was a success by the evening. This beautiful family has been through a lot and this is the hardest thing that any parent can go through and this battle has just started. All I keep asking myself is What can I do to help our family that is in need of a miracle? Princess Isa is fighting the biggest fight of her life and we all need to HELP her! I ask and beg all of you to please PRAY for her and to please DONATE! Every little dollar helps; Isa needs our prayers and her mommy and daddy to be by her side. We can alleviate some of the hardship by donating, as this going to be a long road and the burden of bills can be reduced with all your help. El sábado 06 de Diciembre, 2014 Isa despertó feliz y vibrante como siempre, sus padres notaron una ligera caída en su labio. Ellos no pensaron nada al respecto ya que seguía actuando normal, y decidieron observar por si hubiera cambio en su estado para que la llevaran a ver al médico el lunes. Ahora es el domingo 07 de Diciembre, 2014, Isa trató de levantarse de la cama y cayó. Sus padres decidieron llevarla a la sala de emergencias, Isa es hermana mayor a su hermano de 2 años Junior, así que antes de llevarla a la sala de emergencia que iban a dejar a Junior en casa de su abuela que pero no llegaron tan lejos, Isa comenzó a vomitar y su padre decidió simplemente llevarla de urgencia al hospital más cercano, que era el hospital MacNeal. En su llegada le hicieron una tomografía computarizada al hospital luego el doctor procedió a asesorar a sus padres Imelda y Julio Madrigal que hay algo allí, pero que no pudo diagnosticar porque era necesario realizar más pruebas. Ellos la enviaron al hospital de Lurie Children, a su llegada le hicieron una resonancia magnética y a unas horas más tarde sus padres recibieron la peor pesadilla para padres Isa fue diagnosticado con difusas pontino intrínseca gliomas (DIPGs) un muy agresivo y difícil-a-tratar tumor cerebral que se encuentra en la base del cerebro, que es inoperable. Su padre estaba luchando contra su propia batalla con el cáncer y ahora estaba en remisión y su primera respuesta cuando lo vimos fue "Que me lleve a mí, por qué a ella", su mamá llorando diciendo que es "su bebé". El momento más difícil para mí fue ver la a ella; que era bueno que tuve que usar una máscara para cubrir mis lágrimas. Se veía tan frágil, todos estos tubos, todas esas máquinas, pero vi a su muñeca Elsa que ella tenía en sus piernas me miró con los ojos medios abiertos pero yo sabía que me podía oír. Cogí su mano y su madrina le dijo que le habíamos traído un oso de peluche, me apretó la mano. Le dije a nuestra pequeña princesa Isa que iba a mejorar muy pronto para que pueda jugar con su muñeca de princesa Elsa de nuevo. Isa tuvo su primer radiación y el tratamiento con esteroides administrados esa noche. Los médicos dicen que ella reaccionó muy bien al tratamiento.
