As you may know, the Orlando Griffins Rugby Club is on a historic path. The team has won its first official state championship since the teams inception in 1970. We have beaten the best teams in the state, on our way to securing a state championship with a monumental victory over Ft. Lauderdale on April 25th. The Griffins Men's B-Side also took home 2nd place in Florida's first ever Orange Cup Division. We are the only team in the state that can make such a claim to both the First XV championship and the Orange Cup success.
But with most historic sieges worthy of remembrance, there are costs involved in taking Orlando Rugby to the next level and onto the national tournament. These costs include travel expenses, lodging, food, and all other logistics associated with out an out-of-state venue.
We currently have 63 CIPP'd members of our team, and they all make their presence felt on the pitch. The league allows a maximum roster of 27 members to travel. The next step is the South Regional Tournament to be held in Augusta, GA on May 16th & 17th. If successful, the club will then travel to Charlotte, NC and hopefully onto the National Championship match held at USA Rugby's own, Infinity Park, in Glendale, CO. The estimated cost of getting all 27 of our best men to Augusta, GA is roughly $300 per person for this upcoming round.
We are asking you to participate with us on this historic journey and help Orlando Rugby on its quest to bring home a National Championship.
Please assist us in this endeavor. No donation is too small, whether it be $5, $10, or more. You may also contribute anonymously. This is a community-wide effort as the Griffins are representing both the city of Orlando and the state of Florida on this national stage. We need your help.
Orlando Rugby has its 501(c)(3) status. Any donation of $250 or more will also receive a tax deduction letter from the Orlando Griffins Rugby Foundation.
