GET ME TO NATIONALS

Hi! My name is Natasha Pivovar, and I am a captain and 4 year member of the Overland High School Speech and Debate team. Throughout high school, Speech and Debate has been an essential part of my life, and a support system that has helped me overcome many obstacles. I came into high school unsure and undedicated, until Speech and Debate showed me the importance of academics and critical thinking; it was so helpful that I am now graduating with honors and attending Colorado State University next fall. Speech and Debate has also helped me overcome more personal challenges. Tragically, my father passed away the summer before my junior year. I was devastated and unsure how to continue. However, this activity was my saving grace where I met the people who supported me through thick and thin. After 4 years of hard work, I have qualified from the Colorado National Forensic League district in first place. My event - Original Oratory - is one in which I write a 10 minute speech about a topic of my choosing and perform it passionately to audiences of all kinds. My topic is about the damages of external motivation, and how I propose to solve this problem. This is my last opportunity to compete in Speech and Debate, but unfortunately, the week long trip to Overland Park, Kansas, is far out of my reach. With that being said, any and all contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for helping my dreams come true.
