Our NURSE, Sherry, Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Our friend, co-worker and caretaker to many, was recently diagnosed and currently is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.  All she has ever wanted was “to be a NURSE”.  Please READ HER STORY.

Sherry, at age 22 was involved in a near fatal car accident that resulted in a stroke.  The stroke left her with two major deficits.  First, she has no memory of her life prior to the accident.  Second, an inability to smile.  She does not remember, but was told by her family that she was going to nursing school before the accident. “I must have always wanted to be a nurse”.

Sherry has had four children but, lost her first born at the age of four to Leukemia.  Sherry stated “I raised my kids to be kind, good people”. With her responsibility of raising her kids and the tragic loss of her child, her dream was delayed.  Seven years ago, she was diagnosed and survived her first battle with breast cancer undergoing chemo and radiation.

She continued her dream of becoming a nurse three years ago, and obtained her LVN license while homeless living at the Salvation Army.  After many years of struggle, this year Sherry finally completed RN school and passed the state exam.

Her dream again was interrupted by the untimely passing of her son on Easter Sunday.  Sherry gained the responsibly of caring for her three grandchildren left behind by her son.  Shortly after, Sherry was again diagnosed with breast cancer. She repeated her battle and was forced to put her dream of being a nurse aside.  Sherry repeatedly states “I JUST WANTED TO BE A NURSE AND EVERYTHING KEEPS GETTING IN THE WAY”.

Sherry checks in on her patients often, to see how they are doing, despite her own struggles.  She is truly a selfless person who deserves our help.  She says “my biggest blessing in all of this is I get to raise my son’s angels”.

This funding effort will provide relief from growing medical bills, basic needs of her grandchildren and help prevent displacement from her home.   Due to her inability to work over the last few weeks she is currently at risk of losing her house, car and everything she owns. Please help!
